Engineering is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector I , with a
minimum of one year marine and/or shipyard experience; supporting
our San Diego, California location. Job Summary: The Quality
Assurance Inspector I, is responsible for conducting in-process and
final testing and inspections ensuring compliance with technical
requirements for reliability and quality conformance. Schedules,
conducts, observes, records, and submits testing and inspection
results for work Also responsible for the safe conduct of
in-process and final operational checkpoints which requires not
only an understanding of the technical aspect of the test, but also
all required safety practices, undistracted situational awareness
and complete focus on the task. Essential Functions: Provides
technical assistance to PCE’s Production Department as well as
PCE’s customers and vendors for interpretation of quality
requirements. Demonstrates a keen eye for detail and a willingness
to embrace and endorse strict processes and policies and the
ability to accurately document the completion of all tests.
Effectively reads, interprets, and understands blueprints, complex
and critical work specifications, and equipment technical manuals
and publications. Demonstrates work certification inspections of
PCE work accomplished for acceptance by Government representatives,
Prime Contractor QA representatives, and Sub Contractor QA and
Trade representatives. Possesses a thorough understanding of NAVSEA
Standard Items, basic work specifications, and any applicable
drawings or technical publications; interpreting them on site in
support of routine QA operations. Generates detailed reports for
quality status including inspection acceptance / rejection criteria
for Test and Inspection Reports (TIRs), Test and Inspection Plans
(TIPs), Condition Found Reports (CFRs), Inspection Deficiency
Reports (IDRs), Test Memorandum(s), and Work Specifications.
Demonstrates responsibility for the safe conduct of in-process and
final operational checkpoints which requires not only an
understanding of the technical aspect of the test, but also all
required safety practices, undistracted situational awareness and
complete focus on the task. Clear and concise communication
abilities under demanding and challenging work environments. Able
to determine appropriate action or remedy for work items when
conflicting requirements exist. Skilled, calm and effective
communication abilities in identification of proper work completion
requirements while coordinating with trade personnel and in
reaching consensus with customer representatives. Accomplishes
internal and external Quality Assurance Audits and Surveillances.
Other duties as may be assigned. Job Requirements and
Qualifications: Education: High School or equivalent preferred.
Experience and Knowledge: Minimum 1-2 years experience in ship
repair / shipyard related experience with good mechanical aptitude.
Management may determine an applicant qualified and/or may qualify
for the position if the applicant has the necessary knowledge
and/or certifications to meet the requirements. Must possess
knowledge of ship repair technical specifications and industry
requirements supporting the repair of complex and critical systems
and equipment. Must be able to effectively communicate (both verbal
and written) for coordination, scheduling and completing
inspections with; ships personnel, contractors, subcontractors,
vendors, customers, and employees. Skilled use of technical
measuring and diagnostic equipment. Ensures only calibrated
equipment is used in the measurement and comparison of technical
requirements invoked by blue prints, technical manuals, government
specifications, and various equipment publications. Proficient in
Microsoft Office applications Able to complete training /
certification for CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) This position
may require access to U.S. government or military sites. As such,
candidates must be eligible to obtain base access clearance, which
includes passing a background check and presenting valid
government-issued identification. Per federal requirements,
acceptable ID must be REAL ID-compliant or an approved form of
