Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Labor and Delivery Discipline: RN Start Date: 01/19/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel L&D (Labor and Delivery) 2years exp required Required Certifications RN license Compact/state AWHONN Notes, BLS Certification, Intermediate Fetal Monitoring, NRP Shift Notes 1845-0715 Labor & Delivery Unit Overview Start Dates (bi-weekly, not flexible): 1/19 | 2/2 | 2/16 | 3/2 | 3/16 Department: Labor & Delivery Radius Rule: 100 miles Unit Details L&D Beds: 9 OR Suites for C-Sections: 2 Triage Beds: 7 Birth Volume: ~9/day ~250/month ~3,000/year Staffing & Ratios AWHONN Guidelines: Attempted Typical Ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 (2 patients is common) Charge Nurse: Yes — free charge every shift Support Staff: OB Techs Certifications Required BLS NRP AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Patient Population Gestational Age: 28 weeks and above Common Diagnoses: Hypertension High-risk pregnancies Other Notes: 7–10% with no prenatal care High Spanish-speaking population (Spanish a plus) Tele-monitoring used Required RN Experience & Skills RNs must be comfortable with : Vaginal exams Scalp electrodes Circulating C-sections Newborn transitions Assisting anesthesia IV starts & blood draws APGAR scoring Postpartum hemorrhage management Epidurals Amnio infusions Preferred (not required): Spinning Babies experience Water birth familiarity Note: Nurses from teaching facilities must be proficient with vaginal exams.
