The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment
as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or
step. The base pay range for this position is $113,300 - $235,400.
Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be
available if the position includes membership in the Health

Position description
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery within the School of Medicine
at the University of California, San Diego () is committed to
academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and
student body and is seeking highly qualified physiatrists to
complement our non-surgical Orthopaedic Surgery practice.
The incumbents will evaluate and treat patients with non-operative
spine disorders within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Physiatrists will work with an interdisciplinary team, including
orthopaedic and neurosurgical spine surgeons, pain management,
nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and physical therapists.
Patient care will include performing and interpreting
electrodiagnostic studies with opportunities for interventional
spine procedures.
The selected candidates will be responsible for providing
high-quality patient care, teaching, and research at our various UC
San Diego Health locations.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate,
or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background
and experience.

As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee
should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional
activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidates must have an MD, or equivalent degree, DO, or MD/PhD in
health-related fields. Candidates must have or be eligible for a
California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as
determined by the California Medical Board.
Candidates must be American Board of Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation certified or eligible. Candidates must also have or
be eligible to obtain a California Fluoroscopy supervisor and
operator permit certification/permit as determined by the
California Department of Public Health.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
Candidates must have completed a fellowship training program and
completed a U.S.-accredited residency training program in physical
medicine and rehabilitation by the time of the start of the
appointment.
Preferred qualifications
Candidates with prior experience treating patients with spine
disorders are preferred. Candidates with excellent
interpersonal/communication skills are also preferred.
